SCRIP Today & Win PF Changs

Thinking about Valentines Day and wondering what to get your loved ones?

How about an iTunes or Gamestop gift card with that box of chocolates?  A spa basket from Bath and Body Works?  Dinner at The Cheesecake Factory, PF Changs or The Olive Garden?

For every $25 in SCRIP card purchases this week we’ll enter your name in a draw for a $25 gift card to P.F. Changs!   You can find a complete listing of participating merchants here.

And if not for Valentine’s, why not try SCRIP for upcoming birthdays or a night out with the kids — AMC Movie Theatres, The Gap, Chuck-E-Cheese, the 99 Restaurant or Bertucci’s might just be the answer!

Don’t forget SCRIP cards for your every day purchases at Shaws, Stop & Shop, Mobil Station, Dunkin Donuts, Panera and more.

Orders may be entered online at www.shopwithscrip.com or by filling out and returning the  SCRIP Order Form.  Payments can be made via Prestopay (online bank withdrawal for $0.15 per order) or by sending your payment to the school (in your child’s backpack or drop it off in the main office).

Orders eligible for this draw must be entered online OR forms submitted to the school with payments received by Monday, February 6th at 2:00 PM.  SCRIP cards and WINNING TICKETS will be available for pick up at the school on Friday, February 10th at 2:00 PM.

Thank you for thinking about SCRIPs!

Souper Bowl of Caring

Centerville Elementary is proud to once again be teaming up with the Super Bowl-Bound New England Patriots to participate in the SOUPER BOWL OF CARING.  This is a nationwide effort to fight hunger and poverty around Super Bowl Weekend, with collections going to local non-profits.

It’s easy to help — bring your non-perishable food items (no glass containers, please) to school January 30th – February 3rd and put them in the collection boxes in the lobby.  Monetary donations of any amount (from pennies to checks payable to Centerville PTO) may also be dropped off in our soup pots each morning.

We will be tallying all donations, reporting totals online and delivering 100 percent to Beverly Bootstraps Food Pantry.  Thank you in advance, and please direct any questions to Becky DiPietro (tupperbecky@aolcom or 978.921.1006).

For more information or to follow the national progress online, go to www.souperbowl.org.

Understanding Early Adolescence

Are you the parent of a tween?  If so, you’re probably experiencing a readjustment in your relationship with your emerging teenager.  This time of transition is enough to challenge even the strongest parent-child relationship, and the “when and how’s” of Facebook and cellphones can turn any parent into a serial hand wringer.
Â
Joani Geltman, MSW and expert in Child Development, will speak to 4th and 5th grade parents on the physical, cognitive, and social emotional changes that occur in the tween years, and how these changes affect relationships with parents, friends and school life.
Â
Please join Joanie on Tuesday, January 31 from 6:30 – 8 PM at North Beverly Elementary.  Sponsored jointly by Beverly’s elementary school PTOs, this is a free-to-you event, but you must register in advance on or before January 26.  Contact ptopresident@mycentervilleschool.com for a registration form.

Save Beverly Schools Website

The Save Beverly Schools website is a great resource for parents of school-age children, with a mission aimed at informing and mobilizing Beverly parents to take an active role in all issues related to the funding and operation of the city’s schools.

Launched in the spring of 2008, the site features current and archived articles from local papers (Salem Evening News and The Beverly Citizen), as well as highlights from Beverly School Committee meetings and related.  It is not affiliated with Beverly Public Schools, and was created, designed and is edited by Hannah parent John Hall.

Salem News Seeks Young Weather Artists

The Salem News is seeking weather art from local school children to appear in their daily forecasts.  Each day, a picture displaying a scene similar to the day’s weather is chosen to appear on either the front page or the weather page, along with the child’s name, grade and school.

All types of weather are needed, but they especially want weather typical for the months ahead.  Artwork should be in color and on standard-size paper.  The child’s name, grade and school must be written on the back, and an adult should check spelling and legibility.

Mail weather art to:  The Salem News, Attention Muriel Hoffacker, 32 Dunham Road, Beverly, MA  01915.
